L.A. County High School for the Arts

After attending California College of the Arts (CCA) and Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) on a painting scholarship, Ms. Karten received an MFA from New York University, Tisch School of the Arts.  Ms. Karten has taught for many years alongside her career as an artist/designer at Otis College of Art and Design, Parsons School of Design, RISD and CCA, as well as Los Angeles secondary schools.  Ms. Karten is an award winning clothing designer, designer/manufacturer of LesKarten and So So Sophie line of clothing for over 20 years. Her lines have sold at stores throughout the US, including Fred Segal, Barneys, and Nordstrom. Her designs have been featured in the LA Times, NY Times, Apparel News, and on the cover of numerous magazines. As well, she has designed costumes for stage, TV and feature films, including sitcoms, TV movies for NBC, CBS and major motion pictures.
